The play is to be put on at a private school – and the headmaster and his family (3 kids) are the main characters of Byatt’s book. Drawing parallels between that age and the “new” age. A young playwright/academic has written a new play, in honor of the occasion of the coronation – and if I recall correctly it’s in verse, and it’s about Elizabeth, the Virgin Queen. The book takes place in 1952, in England – the time of Elizabeth’s coronation – seen as “the new Elizabethan age”.
